Challenges and benefits of interviewing international students

Challenges and benefits of interviewing international students

Doing someone interview is an exciting thing because it has two outcomes. One is to find out the benefits and the other is the challenges that they are going through. The first challenge encountered by almost everyone in class is the barrier of language. International students generally encounter this problem of expressing in English because they are not born here such as native speakers. Some students faced problem when their interviewee could not describes something from their culture. Because the interviewee will be international students and it will be difficult for them to express in English. Another part of this, this challenge could be to understand the interviewee's English and what they tried to talked about because they all from different countries around the world and have the different English education background from their countries. Another challenge encountered by students is the fact that they were too anxious to conduct their interview and their interview did not have a flow. The other challenge was to understand the culture of their countries. It could be hard to understand through the interviewee translate them to the second language for us, such as food, custom and race. Also it might be embarrassing for the student who will be doing the interview to a person they have never known each other before and speak the different language with the different background. One of the benefits of interviewing international students was too learned and understands the culture and custom of which countries we are interested in through them. It was difficult for me to do this interview as an international student as I found that there are many differences between us.
It was a great chance for me to interview the student from the different countries. It will be helpful to get to know them and make more acquaintance with them. In conclusion, everyone will be having fun in doing interview.
